What you should know about guest beds

by David Ross

Like many people, you would like to be able to have guests at your home, but you're on a limited budget. Maybe you only have a small amount of space available to house a guest. Or maybe you don't even have an extra bedroom available. If any of these things are true, you can still provide a guest bed for people who stay in your home.

If you're on a limited budget, there are many guest beds available that won't break the budget. Consider choosing a small single bed frame and a utility-grade mattress and box spring. Or if you have couples who will be staying over, there are many choices of double bed frame that will suit your budget. Online bed retailers and wholesale retailers have discount bed components available at a great price.

If you don't have much space available, there are also guest beds available that will suit your needs. Consider purchasing a fold-out bed or futon. These types of beds are inexpensive and comfortable, yet can be placed in a very small space. They will fold up and out of the way when not in use, making them a great choice for a dual-purpose room - for example, a den that will double as a guest room.

Finally, if you don't have a guest bedroom or a spare room, there are guest beds called trundle beds that may be a great option for you. These are small, yet comfortable spare beds that fold out of the bottom of a traditional bed. They tuck away out of the way when not in use, so they won't clutter up your bedroom or child's bedroom.

Small futons or futon chairs could also be a potential pick for those who do not have guest rooms. They are similar to ordinary furniture when not being used, and can be placed almost anywhere in your home for near-instant use. A futon chair, for example, is cosy, and as large as a twin bed when in use. It can therefore fit even very confined spaces.

If you are tired of asking your guests to sleep on the floor in sleeping bags, or sick of getting out a big uncomfortable air mattress for them to use, think about guest beds. Nowadays, there's no reason not to buy one, even if you have budgetary constraints or limited space.

You are just like many of us, you enjoy having company in your home, but you don't have a lot to spend. It could be that you don't even have a spare bedroom for them to use. If any of this is true for you, it is still possible to have a bed available for overnight guests. Many guest beds are available for those looking for more affordable options. Small single bed frames are a perfect option, along with a standard grade mattress and box spring. If your bed will be used for more than one person, consider a double bed frame that will suit this purpose.
