Most gardeners agree that the most fun part of setting up a new garden or flowerbed is selecting the plants that will be combined to create a breathtaking display of foliage, flowers, and even winter interest. Yet, there is a lot of work that must be done to make certain the correct plants are chosen for the conditions of the new bed. While it is easy to skip ahead and just put the plants in immediately, using garden soil tester first will only add to the beauty of your arrangement.

Often, people only go out and purchase a soil test kit after they discover that something is off balance. This is often after they spent good money on plants only to have them die or just refuse to grow more than a half inch over many years.

You can save yourself some money by testing the soil of any new site you want to plant in before you even decide the exact plants that you want to put out. Even if you have healthy dirt that plants will love, you can select the perfect plants for that location going off the information from a test kit.

For example, many desirable plants prefer acidic or alkaline soil. If you know that your dirt is acidic and you do not want to amend it for a particular plant, then you may not purchase something that requires a more alkaline soil to thrive. All this as well as the nitrogen, phosphorus and potash, light levels and moisture of the soil can be determined by a good soil tester.

You can also learn about any deficiencies that the site may have. It is much easier to amend the soil while it is an empty site than it is to try and work lime or other additives in around tender plant roots.

When you use garden soil tester before purchasing and putting out your plants, you ensure that your selections are suited to your type of dirt or give yourself the opportunity to fix the dirt to suit a particular type of plant. This will save you a lot of expense of dying or stunted plants in the long run.

Next, find out about different soil test kits and buy the one that is perfect for you!
