Get Color With A Blue Flower Plant For Your Garden

Flower from a purple or blue flower plant are perhaps the most colorful of flowers.
The colors can be anything from a lavender or periwinkle color to a deep royal color and fill your garden with a soft serenity. Perennials are simple to plant and come up again for many years so you only have to plant one year and watch them bloom for many years.

Since perennial blue flower plants bloom for only a couple of weeks, you should contrive your garden so that each area will be colorful all season by planting these flowers that bloom at different times near each other - that way one spot of your garden won't look barren once the blooms are spent. Pinching dead flowers from your plants will cause it to bring out more flowers and be good for the overall wellness of the perennial.

Below is a list of blue flowering plants that you might want to have for your garden:

Ajuga - Bronze Beauty - This ground carpet has short spikes of blue flowers and quickly carpets an area and also does well in plant holders. Flowering in in spring, this plant will do better in a wooded or shady area.

Balloon Flower - Sentimental Blue - This shorter plant has medium blue flowers that puff up before It flowers in. It gets to a height of about 8" and should be planted in a fully sunny spot.

Catmint - Walkers - This blue flowering perennial shows deep lavender blue flowers on long spikes. It sports from June to September and reaches a height of 10" tall. It does best in full sun but can abide some afternoon shade. Attracts butterflies, hummingbirds and bees.

Delphinium - Butterfly Blue - Bright blue delicate flowers adorn this plant that graces us by blooming in early to mid summer. It will reach 10" tall and likes a sunny location with rich moist soil.

Veronica - Royal Candles Speedwell - Long spikes of royal blue flower petals grow to 15" and add royal color to your garden. Grow in the full rays of the sun.

other plants that look nice with blue flowers include white, pink, fuschia, and even red. You can create a garden with just one color or splash it with a mixture of all colors. Some people like to have their colors in sections, but I think the prettiest gardens are those that mix in all the colors for a dazzling show all summer long.
