Blue Colored Flower Guide

Since blue colored flowers bloom for a few weeks a year, you should plan your garden so that each part of it blooms for the whole season by planting these flowers that will have flowers during different months near each other - that way one point of your garden won't look bare once the blooms dissappear. Pinching dead flowers from your plants will cause it to bring forth more flowers and contribute to the overall well being of the flower.

Ajuga - Bronze Beauty - This short bushy cover has spikes of blue flowers and quickly carpets an area and also does well in raised boxes. Blooming in spring, this plant likes to grow in to be out of the full sun.

Balloon Flower - Sentimental Blue - This shorter plant has medium blue flowers that puff up before It blooms in. It can get to about 8" and likes to grow in a fully sunny spot.

Catmint - Walkers - This blue flowering perennial shows deep lavender blue flowers on long spikes. It graces us by blooming from June to September and grows to about 10" tall. It does best in a fully sunny spot but can withstand some afternoon shade. Attracts butterflies, hummingbirds and bees.

Delphinium - Butterfly Blue - Bright blue delicate flower petals adorn this plant that blossoms in early to mid summer. It will reach 10" tall and likes a sunny location with rich moist soil.

Scabiosa - Butterfly Blue - This bushy perennial is more of a lavender blue perennial plant with 2" flower petals that bloom from June to October. Plant in the full sunlight - deadheading after first bloom will encourage repeat sports. This flower attracts the most fabulous creatures - butterflies and hummingbirds.

Verbena - Babylon Blue - Purply blue flower petals on this early bloomer that is great for window boxes and planters.

Veronica - Royal Candles Speedwell - Long spikes of royal blue blossoms grow to 15" and add royal color to your garden. Grow in the full rays of the sun.
